SIMON Cowell had a furious screaming match with X Factor‘s Jamie Archer at rehearsal last night.
The pair stunned production staff by rowing for a full 25 mins after the music mogul told Jamie to ditch his song choice, Reports The Sun.
Simon was far from happy after watching his act’s rendition of Elvis hit If I Can Dream.
He stormed up to Jamie demanding he change the song he’d practised all week, telling him: “That was well below par. You are finished if you sing that.”
Insiders told how he then ranted: “You need to change your song and start learning the lyrics fast or you are not just going to let yourself down – but you’ll let me down too.”
Simon then told him to sing U2 hit Angel Of Harlem… but Jamie, 34, replied: “I don’t know the words!”
They then went to Simon’s dressing room and continued the row, with their shouting being heard along the corridor.
Simon, 50, insisted he was simply showing Jamie some “tough love” – adding it was “just showbiz”.
Jamie hit back, saying he had only 24 hours until tonight’s live show and would be underprepared if he changed songs.
He went on to accuse Simon of “wrecking this for me”.
One source added: “They eventually calmed down but it got very heated – Jamie is absolutely shell-shocked by it all. We honestly thought he was just going to pack up his things and leave the show.”

Louis Walsh is back this evening he said: ‘I’m back from a dark place and ready to focus on the show and getting my acts safely through one more week.’
Meanwhile Cowell has been persuaded to take a £3.5million pay cut as part of a new two-year contract with ITV.
Simon told The Mirror he was delighted with the deal, which will see him earn around £5million a year compared with his current £6.7million for starring in X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.
He added: ‘I wouldn’t work anywhere else.’

Jamie should go ahead and sing the Elvis song, it will be worse if he messes up as a result of Simon making him ditch his song. It is unfair of Simon to expect an act to learn the lyrics in 24 hours, he should know better.

Can’t believe Miss Frank went! yes they aren’t the best act but they are original and were growing each week. I personally love them… Poor louis as well, he’s going to have no acts soon. Jon and Edward are entertaining but obviously not world class by any means. I hope xfactor do the wild card thing and let us bring back an act… BRING MISS FRANK BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how are miss frank out.i hate watching the show seeing good talented singers going and Jon and Edward staying in its a joke i agree i think the show should chuck the twins out and let the public decide who to bring back
