Simon Cowell has admitted he is praying the twins don’t win the X Factor and said that John and Edward Grimes live in “fantasy land”, The Mirror reports.

Show boss Cowell said of the show “This X Factor is the hardest one to call. I certainly wasn’t expecting to see the twins in the final 12 and didn’t expect to Danyl to be in the bottom two on Sunday.

“The twins are completely deluded and live in fantasy land but they are lovely. They thought Britney would watch their performance and wanted to invite Robbie to their party.

He added later: “I’m praying John and Edward don’t win but there are reports they might be in the lead. You have to live with a public vote.”

But the twins’ secret song choice for this Saturday’s rock-themed night was rumbled yesterday – after they were snapped carrying the lyrics to Queen’s We Will Rock You while heading into the studio.

The Irish duo, 18, who will be in trouble with show bosses desperate to keep the song choices secret, have been rehearsing a cover version of the track by boyband 5ive.

And Cowell, who was taking questions from children at Chase Hospice in Guildford, Surrey, said of the twins: “If they win it would be a complete disaster. I would get on a plane and leave the country then sulk for about six months and Louis will be in serious trouble. The fact is, it’s a singing competition, and they can’t sing.”

He also issued a rallying call to other contestants saying: “We’ve got to raise the game now and explain it is a singing competition. Danyl is back on Saturday to prove a point.”

He also revealed he has been disappointed with popular Essex girl Stacey Solomon.

He said: “Stacey’s like a singing candle. She hasn’t moved in three weeks. I’d rather see Danyl Johnson any day.”

Yesterday, bosses warned the twins for accidentally revealing their song.

A show source said: “The twins will be warned not to carry the lyrics outside the studio when they are in public view.

“They are one of the biggest draws so keeping their song a surprise is important.”

The source revealed other songs this week include Lucie Jones doing Guns’n’Roses’ Sweet Child O’Mine, Stacey Solomon performing the Keane hit Somewhere Only We Know and Olly Murs singing The Beatles’ Come Together.

Danyl Johnson is said to be undecided between Aerosmith’s I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing and a rock version of Wham’s Careless Whisper.

And Lloyd Daniels is hoping to shed his innocent image by belting out Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl.

The contestants are expected to get to meet Jon Bon Jovi today for a mentor master class.

Barnet Council is closing the road where contestants of the ITV show are being housed for six days, to protect the young fans who have been waiting to catch glimpses of their idols.

Roadblocks are being placed at either end of the street in north London. Fans have spent their half term donning ”Jedward” masks, paying homage to spiky-haired twins John and Edward Grimes.

A statement from Barnet Council said the road closure was being put in place over ‘’safety fears”.
