John and Edward Grimes performed a camp version of Ricky Martin’s She Bangs and received cheers and boos from the audience in equal measure.
Later the pair blamed each other for their bad vocals.
An X Factor source said: “Edward was blaming John, who had a go back before they spent some time apart.
“It was all smiles for the cameras but they were arguing for ages. Everyone knows they are not the best singers but they don’t want to just get sympathy votes or go through because of the stage show Louis Walsh is organising around them.”
X Factor producers reportedly held crisis talks last night after being left stunned by the result of the viewer vote.
Girl band Miss Frank were eliminated from the competition yesterday after finding themselves in the bottom two with a stunned Danyl Johnson. Simon Cowell immediately described Johnson’s setback as “a joke”.
According to The Sun, show chiefs are now keen to ensure that “the best acts” do not end up in the sing-off again.
A source said: “They need to work out whether they’ve given the acts the best songs.”
Cowell’s protégé Johnson was also said to have been surprised by his narrow escape, though he later told The Xtra Factor that he had expected to do badly.
Speaking on The Xtra Factor last night, Cowell announced: “I think I’m going to have to get to the bottom of lots of the stories that are going around, people saying he is bullying them and stuff. I don’t believe them, but I think that they have an effect and we’re going to have to clear that up.
“People just don’t seem to like him. There have been stories written about him that people are not getting on with him, and he is going to have to put his side of the story across.”

Thats the problem, Danyl thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread, well I am sorry mate you aren’t and until you stop being so cocky the public aren’t going to like you.
I agree with you 100% Rachael, if you watched him perform his song in the sing off, he performed it like he had just win the show. He needs to show some humility.
John + Edward are one of the best acts in the show. They are what most people look forward to every week! Without them the X-factor wouldn’t be half so entertaining.
I like danyl. The standard was really high this week, didn’t want any of them to go! I don’t know what ‘dottyann’ is on about, his survival performance was fantastic and there’s nothing wrong with displaying some self confidence.
I also love john and edward-they are rubbish at singing but hilarious and entertaining!
Danyl’s performances are excellent every week they seem to get better and better, the public don’t seem to know the difference between being confident and being cocky.
The twins are great fun, l can see a future for them as presenters like ant and dec, but they should be in Britains Got Talent.
They should not still be in the X Factor..
