Simon Cowell was Accused of bending the rules last night in favour of his own act by Louis Walsh. The Irishman was back to his old self on to the show following the death of Stephen Gately and wasted no time stirring up controversy. He turned on Simon after the judge picked a U2 rock song for Jamie Archer on Big Band night!. Earlier Simon revealed he changed afro-haired Jamie’s song choice 24 hours before the show because he thought the original track didn’t work. It has been reported Simon and Jamie, 34, had a huge 25-minute screaming match over the decision to ditch the first track.
He apparently accused Simon of “wrecking this for me” after the judge dumped Elvis number If I Can Dream for Angel Of Harlem.
And Louis slammed his fellow judge, saying it was not fair on the other contestants.
He told Jamie: “I’m a bit confused because the theme is big band but you came out and sang a U2 song.
“I know your mentor changed your song but I feel it’s cheating everyone else. I wouldn’t get away with this and neither would the girls – I don’t know why you do.”
Simon hit back, attacking Louis’ Irish act twins John and Edward before they even sang, saying: “I don’t think he’s in any position to preach about musical taste.”
