Ex- EastEnders actress Lucy BenJamin who became the first celeb to be evicted from this year’s series.
Speaking from the luxurious six star Palazzo Versace Hotel on Australia’s Gold Coast on GMTV this morning, a clean Lucy said she was thrilled to be reunited with her daughter after missing her second birthday the day before.
She said: ‘I actually lay on the bed with Bessie and had a great big cuddle even though I was stinky, I kept my boots on, dirty T-shirt…
‘It was her birthday on Sunday, so I gave her her birthday presents. I was smothering Bess with lots of kisses and cuddles that was the first thing I did.
‘I always knew the hardest thing for me was being homesick and leaving Bess behind.’
Lucy said the presence of chef Gino D’Acampo made living on jungle rations a bit easier.
She said: ‘It was better than I expected. I wasn’t as hungry because of Gino’s wonderful cooking.
‘The rat tasted like chicken it was better than the crocodile feet that we ate. It was such a harmonious camp but apart from the rats at the beginning it turned into a beautiful thing and we all bonded.’
Despite admitting she was ‘bit gutted’ to leave so soon, she also appeared to be delighted to return to her home comforts, calling it a ‘win, win’ situation.
