Actress Maggie Jones, best known for her role as Coronation Street Blanche , has died at the age of 75.
She died this morning after failing to recover from an emergency life-saving operation in October after she was rushed to the Hope Hospital in Manchester.

She had been making a slow recovery but her condition deteriorated early Wednesday morning and she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
The ITV soap’s scriptwriters were forced to hastily write her out of upcoming scripts after she had to pull out of filming after being admitted to hospital for the surgery.
Earlier this month, Jones was said to be in a critical condition after the surgery but Coronation Street producers later said she was starting to improve.

An ITV representative added that the actress was “continuing in the same direction” as she continued to be cared for at the Salford hospital.
Details of the actress’s funeral arrangements have yet to be made.
Today, William Roache, the actor who plays Ken Barlow, her on-screen son-in-law, played tribute to her.
He said: ‘Maggie was a big part of the Barlow family and a brilliant actress. She was a tower of strength, physically frail but mentally strong as an ox and sharp as someone half her age.
