Robbie Williams has denied rumours that he was “trashed” during his performance on The X Factor, Fans flooded internet forums with messages after the singer seemed “wide-eyed and hyperactive” after singing his new track “Bodies”.

Robbie wrote on his blog that his early confidence was threatened when the sliding door to the stage refused to work and he had to wedge it open himself.
Williams said of the show: “What A Hoot! loved it. I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I was going to be. Until The friggin’ sliding door wouldn’t open.
“Now I don’t know if you’ve ever had ten million (plus) people ready to judge you on your first performance back in three years, but let me tell you, if the door between you and them isn’t opening that’s enough to throw you right off your stride.”
He added: “So there’s a bad start. I had a whole pose planned and what not. But that went out of the window. Anyway I was so thrown that I started saying to myself, ‘OH GOD, what did God give me? s**t, Did he give me sunshine or a lay line? OH lord oh lord’.
“Then the mouth opened and by the grace of the big man himself the right words fell out. Oh praise be! I’m in! So after a bizarrely odd start to the 3.30 minutes I started to find my feet.
“The audience were Immense and the Love in the room was palpable. It all felt so electric. Like three years of anxiety leaving my body. So happy right now, so pleased. I think the boy’s back”
