On Sunday, show bosses announced that Richie is to make a comeback as loveable rogue Alfie Moon. The news led to immediate speculation that his screen wife Wallace will also return as Kat Slater.

Of her decision to come back, Wallace said: “I’ve really enjoyed playing different roles over the last few years but am excited to slip back into Kat Slater’s stilettos. I’ve missed her.”

Richie commented: “More than anything I’m looking forward to getting my face covered in Kat’s lipstick again!”

Controller of BBC drama production John Yorke commented: “Alfie is one of EastEnders’ most loved and iconic characters, so he’s bound to get a very warm welcome from viewers when he returns to Walford.

This spring, she will be seen in prison, where she’ll become embroiled in a storyline involving another well-loved character, according to the soap’s official website.

She will make her full comeback to the cobbles a few months later, in time for the 50th anniversary of the much-loved soap.
Kate, 32, was in Corrie from 2002 to 2007, although has been referenced many times since by her screen family.

While in another, she wears a corset and thigh high stocking as she hitches up her skirt.

Rosie is seen for the first time in the ‘Pop My Cherry’ outfit tonight when she takes a job as a promotions girl for a cherry vodka company.

She is seen rollerskating around Weatherfield in the outfit, leaving father Kevin furious.

The episode is also being shown before the 9pm watershed.

Last night, Vivienne Pattison, from Mediawatch, said: ‘This is a pre-watershed programme – but I don’t think this is suitable viewing before the watershed.’

Even more raunchy photographs of Rosie’s burgeoning glamour career will then be featured on the Coronation Street website.
Miss Flanagan said of her character: ‘The whole cherry vodka promotions job leads on to Rosie becoming a glamour model which I’m very excited about! It’s perfect for her.’
It is not the first time in recent months the soap opera has been accused of being too risqué, with regards to Rosie’s character.

In September, raunchy footage of her stripped on the cobbles were again deemed too risqué for the TV show – but not for the Weatherfield watchers on the internet.

The scene showed the young Webster throwing off her coat to reveal a sexy basque, stockings and suspenders in attempt to seduce a rival’s boyfriend.

TV viewers saw an edited version that merely showed Rosie strolling down the street. The programme finished as she began to undress.

And earlier this year, the programme featured Rosie dressed in knickers and a white basque that could barely contain her cleavage. The plot-line focussed on Rosie as a Lolita-style seductress having an affair with her tutor.

Ms Flanagan said of the character recently: ‘Rosie is outrageous and such a madam and I love playing her. I get to do things that I would never dare do.’

The 22-year-old actress, best known for playing Weatherfield favourite Tina McIntyre, claimed that men are more likely to approach her friends when she goes for girls’ nights out on the town.

Speaking to The Mirror, Keegan explained: “I really don’t get chatted up. I can’t even remember the last time it happened. If I have a night out with girlfriends, they might get guys coming up to them. But me? No.

Details of the actress’s funeral arrangements have yet to be made.
Today, William Roache, the actor who plays Ken Barlow, her on-screen son-in-law, played tribute to her.
He said: ‘Maggie was a big part of the Barlow family and a brilliant actress. She was a tower of strength, physically frail but mentally strong as an ox and sharp as someone half her age.

The confidential documents were contained on the as-yet-unnamed author’s laptop, which was taken from their home last week along with various other valuables.

BBC bosses are now concerned that the finer details of the show’s two most important episodes of the year in which one of its biggest characters is written out of the soap, the possible leak will ruin the surprise for fans.

Executive producer Diederick Santer told The Sun: “We’re keen to get this laptop back as it contains all the twists and turns of our exciting EastEnders Christmas.”

The episodes – which feature a shock Mitchell storyline twist – were filmed a number of weeks ago at the soap’s home at Elstree Studios in Borehamwood, Herts. The casts’ shooting scripts were subsequently destroyed.
