Twice he has presented radio breakfast shows. Twice he has been fired for failing to show up for work. So will it be third time lucky for Chris Evans?

He was once the hottest broadcaster in Britain, but seemed to have thrown it all away with booze and bad behaviour.

After re-inventing morning telly on Channel 4′s Celebs Big Breakfast, in April 1995 he was lured back to Radio 1 to host the breakfast show.

He piled on listeners – reaching a peak of 7.5 million. But his wild parties at the time clashed with early mornings.

In December 1995 he took his crew on a 17-hour pub crawl, ending two hours before the show.

Then he took an extra week of holiday, turned up late and branded chief Matthew Bannister “the Fat Controller”.

In January 1997 he was sacked but returned to the breakfast show at Virgin Radio later that year. He bought out boss Richard Branson but then sold the station to SMG for £285million in 1999.

He continued to present the show but old habits die hard and he was sacked again, making a comeback on Radio 2 in 2005. Since splitting from actress Billie Piper, he has wed golfer Natasha Shishmania and they have a baby son.
